Data Warehouse and Analytics

Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics is a Business Intelligence solution that supports financial institutions in their reporting. It is a data warehouse system, integrating data from different sources and making them available for analysis and reporting. These data are then published via various static and dynamic channels for use by operational and management users.

Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics is based on MS SQL Server and Analysis Services and loaded with an ETL (extract, transform, and load) application developed by Quipu. Through a set of pre-configured templates Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics enables banks to deliver high quality periodic and ad-hoc reporting, whenever needed.

Financial data are loaded into Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics from different local accounting systems and can be organised in the database according to various charts of accounts, in line with local GAAP or any other accounting rules. Custom adjustments can be imported from Excel, e.g. to allow for differences between local GAAP and IFRS.

Operational data from customer business is loaded into Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics from different front office systems and open interface Formats.

Treasury data is currently loaded into Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics from Quipu Treasury and from open interface Formats.

Cube technology

The Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics project has played a pioneering role in encouraging financial institutions to apply analysis technologies based on “cubes” or multidimensional databases. This technology puts the power to define reports into the hands of experienced business users, rather than IT experts, thus shortening the report definition cycles and making them more efficient and accurate.

But multidimensional analysis is not the only way to access Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics data. Direct access to the Microsoft SQL database is also encouraged and fully supported.

Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics organises and presents data in a business-oriented form, creating a direct link between the user and the data that he or she wishes to analyse. It aims to present data in a user-friendly and intuitive format, enabling users to manage and customise the information according to their specific needs. Also Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics serves as the basis for accurate standardised periodic business reporting, both at the level of the individual financial institutions and at a group wide consolidated level.

Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics is ideally suited to the task of collecting and consolidating data from the members of a group of institutions and reporting them centrally to the relevant supervisory authority. For example, Quipu Data Warehouse and Analytics provides the foundation for the ProCredit group’s reporting to the EBA via the German Bundesbank, merging data from all of the group’s institutions in compliance with frequently changing reporting requirements.
