My Quipu Summer Internship – Denisa, Bucharest

I first learned about the Quipu summer internship programme through an advertisement on LinkedIn while exploring potential summer internship opportunities. I was then able to gain additional insights about the programme from the Quipu website.

Despite not knowing about Quipu initially, I found useful information about the company on the website and LinkedIn page. I have found that the online details were very accurate, and everything happened as it was outlined and expected. Moreover, I met a great team and I gained valuable experience. I was initially not familiar with what my responsibilities and tasks will be, but I learned a lot along the way and found out more about the bank activities.

My time in this programme has been well invested as I have found an amazing opportunity for the beginning of my career. I have gained experience in the IT field, being able to learn from my mentors and getting a hands-on experience of what it means to apply my knowledge in real life situations. I have improved my teamwork abilities and time management skills, as I also had the flexibility to focus on my academical studies while working.

I believe this programme exceeded my expectations, as this is my first working experience and I had little knowledge on what working in a company is like. I found that I could learn a lot from my colleagues who were very friendly. To me, the fact that the working environment was very welcoming, was very important, as I felt like I could constantly ask questions to improve myself and my soft skills. During those months, I was able to blend in, get to know the team and understand my tasks and responsibilities.

The main highlight of my experience here at Quipu has certainly been the working environment, my colleagues that have been very kind and open to help and guide me through my learning process. Moreover, I enjoyed the flexible schedule that allowed me to develop both my academical and career paths.

My time in the office has been very fun and educational. My colleagues are really outgoing and they were all willing to mentor me and help me blend in. I felt it was necessary for the internship to take place during 6 months, so I could gain all the knowledge. Furthermore, the programme was part-time and versatile, so I had time to work, attend college and have fun alltogether. Although time management could prove challenging at times, taking studies into consideration, you have the possibility to work your way around your personal timetable and succeed in both aspects. I think it is a necessity to come to the office, as shadowing plays a big part in the learning process for this job. Working from home would have not been the same; plus, we usually go out and eat together during lunch, so there is a lot of bonding with the team and laughter during break.

I would also like to highlight that I have received the equipment that I needed in order for me to do my job and I also had documentation and tutorials to guide me through the journey.

As a conclusion, I would recommend this programme to anyone eager to start their career by learning new technologies in the IT field, but also with the  opportunity to understand what working for a bank means. The company is people oriented, everyone is sociable and amiable. My experience here at Quipu has been a wonderful journey. I wholeheartedly encourage any student to apply and attend any Quipu Internship Programmes!
